The Waco Bridge’s goal is to educate and engage our community. That’s why you’re welcome to republish our articles and graphics for free using the following ground rules. (Please let us know if you republish our stories; it makes us happy!)
Here’s what you need to know:
Story Republishing Guidelines
1. You must give us credit, ideally in this format: “by J.B. Smith, The Waco Bridge.”
2. If you publish online, you must include the links from the story, and a link to wacobridge.org.
3. It’s fine to change the story to suit your in-house style (for example, using “Beaumont, Tex.” instead of “Beaumont.”)
4. If you publish online, when possible, include The Waco Bridge URL of the story as the value of the canonical tag in the metadata (<head>) of your republished story.
5. If you make changes that are more significant than style tweaks — such as adding a comment from a local official — you need to include a note like this: “Additional reporting by the Rosebud Reporter.”
6. You can publish our photos and graphics with the stories with which they originally appeared. For photo licensing questions, email licensing@wacobridge.org
7. When possible, include the following: The Waco Bridge is an independent, nonprofit newsroom dedicated to empowering Wacoans with high-quality local news and information that connects communities and fosters public engagement.
8. If you share the story on social media, please mention @The Waco Bridge (Facebook) and @WacoBridge (Instagram)
9. Don’t sell the story.
10. Don’t sell ads against the story. Feel free, however, to publish it on a page surrounded by ads you’ve already sold.
11. Articles include a pixel to help us measure the reach and understand the impact of our stories. This tracker captures view counts and helps us break them down by date, your site’s domain and from where you grabbed the article. No other information is gathered.
NOTE: From time to time, The Waco Bridge publishes content written by other newsrooms as part of exclusive partnerships. Stories written by third-party partners are not available for republishing, unlike regular Waco Bridge stories.
Multimedia Republishing Guidelines
We encourage you to republish our best online video content, photographs, images and multimedia packages – all we ask is that you follow these multimedia republishing guidelines.
1. You must give us credit, ideally in this format: “by J.B. Smith, The Waco Bridge.” For on-air use, please introduce video packages as “(Reporter) with our political reporting partner, The Waco Bridge…”
2. If you publish online, you must include the links from the story, and a link to wacobridge.org.
3. For multimedia, you can’t change video or audio packages in any way (included shortening) without receiving clear approval from Waco Bridge editors. In a squeeze? Email info@wacobridge.org. If you’ve been given approval to shorten Waco Bridge content to run as an anchor voice over VOSOT, please provide a verbal or visual curtsey credit — verbal: i.e. “Our partners at The Waco Bridge were there to cover xyz.” For visual credit, include in text ‘The Waco Bridge’ on-screen.
4. If you make changes that are more significant than style tweaks — such as adding a comment from a local official — you need to include a note like this: “Additional reporting by the Rosebud Reporter.”
5. You can publish our multimedia pieces with the stories with which they originally appeared. For any other uses, you must seek permission from our multimedia department, info@wacobridge.org, as we do not always have the copyrights to pass along.
6. When possible, include the following: The Waco Bridge is an independent, nonprofit newsroom dedicated to empowering Wacoans with high-quality local news and information that connects communities and fosters public engagement.
7. If you share the story on social media, please mention @The Waco Bridge (Facebook) and @WacoBridge (Instagram)
8. Don’t sell the story.
9. Don’t sell ads against the story. Feel free, however, to publish it on a page surrounded by ads you’ve already sold.
10. If we send you a request to change or remove Waco Bridge content from your site or on-air, you must agree to do so immediately.
