Baylor University students peacefully expressed diverse viewpoints Wednesday as the campus hosted Wednesday’s Turning Point USA tour stop at the same time as a progressive event, “All Are Neighbors.”

Baylor officials said conservative event at the 2,200-seat Waco Hall drew 438 attendees based on ticket scans. Turning Point USA announced Wednesday afternoon that the event would be open to students, faculty and staff but closed to the general public, blaming the decision on Baylor University.

But university officials responded with a statement that they had never approved the event for the general public.

Meanwhile, university officials said “All Are Neighbors” event at the Cashion building had 270 ticket scans, though the crowd appeared larger based on the room’s seating capacity. An informal gathering followed at Burleson Quadrangle featuring discussions of the themes of how people of different faiths and backgrounds can be neighbors to each other. The event was sponsored by students groups including the College Democrats and NAACP.

Here are some scenes from campus Wednesday evening as the two events went head to head.
